🎉 Can You Put 27.5 On A 26
The SL has a high enough BB it can easily be dropped the 19mm lower a 27.5 wheelset would place it. It'll corner better for it too. If you're into descending changing your air spring to increase the fork travel by 10 or 20mm you'd have the best of both worlds. Slacker and nicely lower (than stock). Seat angle is steep enough to cope with the
With a regular 29/700c fork, you can use rim or disk brakes, depending on fork. Check the manufacturer’s specifications carefully before you decide which fork to buy! On the 26 inch suspension corrected, you’ll need disk brakes to put a 29 inch wheel. A mountain bike modified in this way is called a 69er.
Yes, you can do it. The diameter of a 29″ wheel & tire is slightly larger than a 27.5+ wheel & tire. The 29″ setup will raise your bottom bracket height. Ride Experience Largely because of their lower attack angle, 29ers roll over trail obstacles easier than 27.5-inch wheels.
Mostly available in 27.5 x 3.8″, the new crop of fat bike tires measure close to the overall diameter of a 26 x 4.6″ tire but without the width. If we’re talking about a bike that used to run 26 x 4.0″ tires, upsizing to 27.5 x 3.8″ will be similar to going from a 27.5 to a 29″ wheel on a mountain bike. Better roll over, momentum, etc.
The bottom bracket heights of 26-, 27.5- and 29-inch designs are about the same, but a closer look reveals a secret that might explain the highly lauded cornering ability of 29-inch chassis. At 12.5 inches, the bottom bracket center is only a half inch lower than the axles of a 26-inch bike, but the bottom bracket is 2 inches below the wheel
As mentioned, each frame/ model is different, see if you can borrow some 27.5” wheels to try. I was running 26x2.4 and managed 650b/27.5”x1.9 (Panaracer Gravelking) with room to spare. It’s usually clearance with the chainstays or the seat stay bridge that causes issues, in my experience.
I wouldn't do it without having the bike to test it on first, but even if it does fit, you'll be (most likely) limited in the tire sizes you can use. It might work if the frame and fork have a lot of clearance and the brake calipers have enough spare adjustment. 27" wheels are only 8mm larger in diameter than 700c source .
The new Genius can run 27.5″ tires in 2.5″, 2.6″, and 2.8″ widths, as well as 29″ tires from 2.4″-2.6″. According to Scott, “the flip chip allows us to maintain a similar BB height when switching from one wheel size to the other, which is key to keeping handling similar for both wheel sizes.”

I considered doing it, but with a 26, my older bike could take a 2.4". With the 27.5, it barely fit a 2.1. For me, that was a deal breaker. S.
No a 26 tire wont fit on a 27.5 rim. Obviously the 27.5 inch rim is larger then a 26 inch tire. brqinhans • 3 yr. ago. One might think that it'll fit because rims are the same for 28" and 29". singelingtracks • 3 yr. ago. No such thing as 28inch in mtb. 27.5 and 29 are not the same rims. And the tires are different.

If the overall diameter of the 27.5 is 1.5" less than the 29r, then your BB is dropping half of that, 3/4", because your wheel is connected at the center (think radius difference, not diameter). On some bikes that difference could cause pedal strikes in certain
Rim Brakes = Incompatibility. A 700c frame is designed for 700c wheels. Those use a rim with a 622mm diameter. Meanwhile, 26″ wheels have 559m rims – a 63mm difference in diameter. Therefore, if the frame operates with rim brakes, they will be located about 3.2cm (63mm/2) higher than where the 26″ wheel will require them to be.
The ohlins is a far better fork, but they can be a pain to get serviced. The 35 is decent, it’s an upgrade from a Recon but not by a lot. Also 160/29”is going to be 30mm taller than your current fork, 20mm is generally considered the safe limit. 5. RaduPlays.
Results may vary when you consider putting on tires for bigger E-bikes into the 26-inch E-bike. The 27.5-inch wheels can still be compatible with some 26-inch E-bike frames. The tires can still easily rub on the E-bike’s bottom bracket. It will not be the case if you put 29-inch E-bike wheels into the 26-inch E-bike.
