Hi Guys, I am a little confused and would love some help. I was doing an oil change on my 07 450 exc last night, I got the short screen and the drain plug undone however couldn't for the life of me get the long screen bolt to undo, and now its burred, and I can't for the life of me understand why the previous owner had done these up so tight.

My take on the KTM being dual sport is mainly to allow you to ride. were non-plated bike are no longer allowed. I have two bikes, the LC4 which has a 2.25 liter oil capacity, and. yes the cush hub (lower compression ratio too) for "true dual sporting". I can run that bike at steady state freeway speeds (~66 - 70 mph)
2006 Ktm 400 exc turned 450 exc Oil leaking. I just bought a 06 400 exc that had the 450 conversion put onto it. It runs strong and seemingly everything sounds and feels like it should. I had did the water pump rebuild replacing the bearing and seals because it was letting some oil out of the weep hole which seemingly helped the leak.

Burnrider. Posted May 20, 2017. Seals are cheap ($4 ea). An RFS 2007 or older had soft, short life intake valves. The stock exhaust valves were in much better shape when I had the head done. Depending on the bike, the mechanics would do a 3 angle grind on valve seats and install the kibblewhite valves for long life.

I use all the lubes and parts from KTM. At the 100 hr mark I replaced the piston and intake valves(980 in parts) since that is what the maint. Schedule calls for. That seems really excessive to me, both price and the low hrs for a piston replacement. Oil change using Mototex and a ktm filter costs me about 55 bucks.
What oil for 450 exc? New to all this oil changing malarkey! Got an 09 exc, bought it new last year. the oil my ktm dealer has supplied me Is Fuchs silkolene 10-40. I am about to change the gear oil but the manual states I should use 10-50.
